The bar on the beach is up and running again.

The lifeguard has a new 'tower' in the centre of the beach.

There is a wooden walkway to the solariums for people with limited mobility at the southern end of the beach, before you get to the Frasquita Restaurant.  The bathing chair is also there.

A pair of football goals have also been added.

I also hope that the 4 areas of planted trees are regularly watered.

There are mixed reviews about the beach on forums and social media, particularly about the quality of the sand.

The advantage of the new beach is that when the tide goes out, there isn't the huge expanse of rocks that used to be visible at mid to low tide.

The sand in front of the sunbeds seems to be OK, as most is washed by the sea.

Walking across the big expanse of the beach at the back is not easy as it is ridged.  It needs raking and flattening.  Maybe, the thousands that will descend on it next weekend for the 2 day beach party will improve it.

Today they started to put up what looks like some children's playground equipment, although I overheard one couple, who were walking by, say it looked like beach gym equipment.  We shall see!

Debbie mentioned at one of the previous meetings that a beach gym was planned, so maybe this is it.  :D

Slightly off topic but did Debbie have bluish highlights in her hair at the meeting Steve?

We'll make a beach gym the favourite! My wife thinks it's gym equipment as well.

Me, Jill and Ian were talking to Debbie after the meeting but I didn't notice any blue - just the usual reddish colour.

It is a small beach gym.  There is tape around it, so it's not open yet - they must be waiting for the cement to set!

The beach gym is open for use now, and they have also put the children's play equipment back as well.

It's official - the powers that be think that the beach is now worse than it was before the regeneration.

The Fuerteventura Cabildo, The Ayuntamiento of Antigua and the business association have had a meeting and are now asking for a meeting with the Environment Minister because of the 'distrasrous result'.

Really  what they need to do is get several tons of good quality sand and overlay it on the existing sand

Latest news - the Spanish Government have agrred to carry out work on the beach to improve it.  A tender will be made for the work to put right the faults and to sift the sand to eliminate the stones.

The translated news release is as follows:

The State is committed to repair all the faults registered in the northern part of the beach of El Castillo as a result of the regeneration works undertaken by the Ministry of Environment and to clean the seabed. This is how the President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Mercedes Roldós, the President of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, Marcial Morales, and the Mayor of Antigua, Juan José Cazorla, have been transferred today, Wednesday, September 20. also attended the councilman of Beaches, Hugo Flavio Estévez.

Both the City Council of Antigua, Cabildo of Fuerteventura and businessmen of Caleta de Fuste described a few weeks ago as "disastrous" the result of these works in the north of the beach of El Castillo after the appearance of socavones, unevenness and mud in the background of the sea in a space very frequented by bathers and users of nautical sports.

The State will draft and tender a project to correct all the detected faults and will also carry out a screening of the sand of the beach to eliminate the stones that have also appeared in this zone of the coast of Antigua.

The Cabildo of Fuerteventura and the City of Antigua have monitored the execution of this work, and in that process there are technical reports in which it is verified the poor execution of the actions that have been carried out for the regeneration of the beach of El Castillo.

With some good luck , this will be finished before the summer of 2018.  The colour of the sand will remain the same though :-(.
