All heading in the right direction. The only limiting factor is the supply of accommodation.

Whether that's good for Caleta , is another matter . One gets used to it , but the noise starting at 07hr and earlier till late night from all those planes will only get worse and worse .... and Caleta will not benefit in this ... unfortunately .

They say that you will get used to the noise of the planes but I find that a bit hard to swallow, especially when watching TV at night you have to pause something when a plane comes over.

Wilfried I have to say that during our 8 weeks of stays in the last year I can't remember an arrival before 07.30 and they are the inter island which usually are not as noisy, and not to many after 21.00. 36 arrivals today, 17 of which are inter island, 3 before 09.00 2 of which are inter island, and 4 after 21.00 3 of which are inter island. Inter island planes seem to use varying approach routes to those of the bigger jets so the noise is spread. Saturday is the busiest day so we try to arrange to have a day visiting other parts of the island.

I know , John , those are the propeller ones and air europe will soon add some more inter island flights . We are having our holidays twice a year for 3 weeks each visit for about 4 years now ( elba carlota ) and are used to the noise in the meanwhile and what I meant is that an increase of flights and noise is everything but beneficial for Caleta . Everyone has its own opinion of a quiet and relaxing holidays , of course :).

In the last year, International tourism has grown by 4.9% and national tourism by 2.36% on the island

A translation from the Spanish press: The Minister of Tourism appreciates the efforts of all the agents involved in the sector

Fuerteventura will end the year 2017 beating a new record in the arrival of tourists after reaching 3,403,404 visitors. In addition, there has been growth this year in both international and domestic tourism.

In particular, according to data released by the Tourist Board of Fuerteventura, international tourism has grown this year by 4.99%; the national 2.36%; in cruises a 65.99% and the interinsular a 19.90% motivated by the new policy of canary resident bonus.

The Vice President and Tourism Minister of the Fuerteventura Cabildo, Blas Acosta, said that 2017 ends "with a positive balance, thanks to the work of all those who indirectly work for tourism in Fuerteventura."

Acosta acknowledged that it is "an arduous job to continue raising awareness among public administrations and private companies in favor of investing in infrastructure improvement, accessibility, training, decoration, job stability with improvement in the workforce with greater pressure and coordinated joint planning".

A measure that, according to the insular manager of Tourism, will allow that "we can continue to be leaders and differentiate ourselves from the competition in the face of the possible threat of recovery of the short-term competitive markets".

Finally, Blas Acosta thanked the work of the team of the Ministry of Tourism and the Tourist Board of Fuerteventura and shares with them the end of the year with positive tourism balance, making it available to the entire sector of the island.

I've been pleased how both the island and the people have bounced back from the dire situation they faced 6-7 years ago. The infrastructure has improved imeasurably and the outlook looks positive. Whenever I have managed to persuade people to try the island I have never had negative feedback indeed all have made return visits. I'm both proud and blessed to own a very small piece of paradise and have met and maintained good friends along the way. Long may it move forward.
